Dean, I don't think we have had a specially created work in an Italy Group contest before. Nicely done (and Good Luck)!

Thank you, Nigel. I wanted to enter this contest, but I didn't feel I had any work suitable, so I created my entry especially for this event. It took me about 4 or 5 days or so to complete my entry, but I'm hoping it'll be well worth it. It was fun, because I genuinely love and enjoy the Italian culture and people...i.e., the inspiration was definitely there. Thanks again, for your warm welcome.

Artist's Description

This is my entry created exclusively for my "Italy Group" Contest - "Rome Sweet Rome". It is a digitally-created collage/montage of historic Roman imagery focusing on the colorful and dramatic history of ancient Rome..."La bella Roma antica". Especially notable within this collage are the images of the bust of Marcus Junius Brutus and the statue of Julius Caesar, the first emperor of Rome. Roman history tells us that Brutus stabbed Caesar in a conspiratorial act of vengeance, causing Caesar to cry out his oft-quoted, "Et tu, Brute! ("and you, Brutus!")" An event interestingly quite timely, as the infamous "Ides of March" occurred just yesterday, the 15th of March 2011.

I love exploring all kinds of subject matter from the vast “banquet table of life.” One comes this way only once, so I love to reach out and grab any and everything that grabs my fancy at any given moment to explore creatively. The closest I come to concentrating on any single subject is about my love of the Mexican people and culture, especially after being married to a lovely and inspiring Californian of Mexican descent for many years now. My art education and training has...
